August 30, 2006
16:31 Ensign Kimball: Welcome to the Wednesday Training Class.
16:31 Ensign Kimball: Today we will be discussing Ensign CHARTING. Many of you are experts in using Ensign Charts, but sometimes it's nice to do a basic review. You may be reminded of a feature or shortcut that you are not currently using.
16:32 Ensign Kimball: One of the first things a new Ensign user wants to do is open a Chart.
The first question: How do I open a chart. To answer this question, I will show you a short Training video at this time. You will need to have Speakers on your computer in order to hear the Video.

16:37 Ensign Kimball: As you can see the Charts button in the top left is the main control used to Open a chart.
16:37 Ensign Kimball: You can open several charts at the same time. The charts can then be moved around and tiled using various Ensign features. I will now play a tutorial Video that demonstrates these charting features.

16:46 Ensign Kimball: As you can see there are a lot of different things that you can do with Charts.
16:46 Ensign Kimball: One of the Ensign Windows screens used most....is the 'Chart Properties' screen. This screen allows you to customize how a chart looks and acts for you. I will now start a Training Video that highlights the Chart Properties screen.

Auto Scroll
16:40 bob_a: Will you please cover multiple monitors today as well and some tricks? Will the auto scroll work with charts in the stack toolbar?
16:42 Ensign Kimball: y
16:49 bob_a: Kimball -- I asked if the auto scroll will work with charts that are in a stack for the stack toolbar -- you typed in a "y" was that yes for my question? If yes I can't get it to autoscroll... thanks
16:54 Ensign Kimball: Make sure that the Quote page is open. The quote page must include all the charts that you want to Scroll. The Auto-Scroll is tied to a Quote page...not the Stack. But the top chart in the stack can be used to Scroll with....while using the Auto-scroll feature.
16:55 bob_a: Thanks Kimball. Yes it worked as soon as I opened the quote page -- love this feature -- thanks
Chart Defaults
17:02 Ensign Kimball: Ok.... I hope that you learned something new from the Video.
17:02 Ensign Kimball: Does anyone have a question about charting...in general. ?

17:04 Ensign Kimball: On the chart Properties button, you can specify the 'Bar Style' and all the other chart settings.
17:04 Ensign Kimball: Click the 'Save Default' button to save your settings. Any NEW chart, that has not ever been opened before will now use the Default settings. Any chart that you have already opened previously will have saved its settings. To change the old chart...to be like the new default, then you would need to open the Chart Properties window and click the 'Load Default' button.
17:04 KC: excellent, TY!!! ok I will try
Multiple Monitor Tricks
17:03 bob_a: please cover use of multiple monitors -- tricks and tips of using please
17:05 Buffy: one of the things I wouldn't be without for my multimonitors is the floating drawtool and using the right click menu that you can now control the listing - thank you Howard so it is shorter -- hardly ever go to top of workspace anymore. Controls panel can float too. right click - straight line is the most often used one I think
17:06 bob_a: great info thanks Buffy
17:07 Ensign Kimball: Multiple monitors can be connected to a computer by installing a specialized video card, or multiple video cards. Using multiple monitors increases the screen space available for charts and quote windows, and for running multiple programs at the same time. Multiple monitors are usually configured to act like one giant monitor.
17:11 Ensign Kimball: The ‘Stretch Ensign to Fill Desktop’ button is normally used when multiple monitors are connected to the computer. Clicking this button will stretch Ensign Windows across all monitors and fill the entire desktop.
17:12 bob_a: Buffy how do you set up the floating toolbars? Do you just drag and drop? How then do you move from chart to chart?
17:27 Buffy: drag and drop and click on chart then right click drawtools. It will be on the chart you are working on. Same with control panel etc It will go automatically to the chart you are working on -- couldn't imagine life without it
17:27 bob_a: oh great thanks Buffy - luv it
17:28 Buffy: let me know if you have problems
17:28 bob_a: thanks
17:28 Buffy: welc
17:12 Ensign Kimball: I have to run. Thanks for coming out today.
17:12 bob_a: thanks Kimball
17:12 Ensign Kimball: Send me an e-mail is you have any questions. Kimballh@ensignsoftware.com
