| New Implementations in Ensign with Q&A session following |
December 17, 2003
@Ensign: One request that was implemented was so percentage levels of an absolute
price could be drawn.

@Ensign: Example, if the price is $100 and you want to see a 10% change from
the price a line would be drawn at $90
@Ensign: representing a 10 percent change down or at $110 for a 10% change in
price higher.
@Ensign: This was implemented using the existing Gann Square tool.
@Ensign: There is a new check box on the Gann Square property form for the %
of A Price.
@Ensign: The A price is the price at the first construction point.
@Ensign: In the example the percentages are every 10th of a percent so we can
see several lines in the chart.
@Ensign: I am not suggesting that 10th of a percent is magical, but used it
to show an example of percentages.
@Ensign: If the 2nd construction point is below the 1st, the percentages are
drawn lower from the Price A4
@Ensign: If the 2nd construction point is above the 1st, the percentages are
drawn higher from the Price A.

@Ensign: You could use one of the tabs on the property form to set up the Gann
Price Levels by having the option checked.
@Ensign: Enter the percentage levels in the Level fields.
@Ensign: Now we will discuss the Price Magnet button on the right side of the
Draw Tools toolbar. This button has a horseshoe shaped magnet in the image.

@Ensign: When this button is clicked on, the image changes to show a depressed
button with the magnet active.
@Ensign: Click the button again to change the mode back to being OFF and the
button is not depressed.
@Ensign: If the magnet is not showing, click menu SetUp | Toolbars and check
the box to show the Price Magnet button.

@Ensign: When the price magnet is ON, the construction points used in drawing
tools will SNAP to the nearest bar price.
@Ensign: If you are a half inch away from the intended point, the tool will
not snap to your price.
@Ensign: When you are close the price point, and magnet is on, the construction
point will snap to the exact point and price.
@Ensign: The prices that we look for are the bar's High, Low, Close or Open
price, whichever is closest to your click location.
@Ensign: On the draw chart controls toolbar by the template button are two
buttons with padlock images.
![]()
@Ensign: One image has a small S and the other has a small L letter on the
padlock.
@Ensign: We will explain how these padlock buttons are used.
@Ensign: Suppose you have a 5-minute chart with 4 studies on the chart.
@Ensign: Click the Lock Studies button, the padlock with the S on the image,
and the padlock image will close showing the studies are LOCKED.
@Ensign: Now change the time frame for the 5-min chart, and the studies on the
chart will be locked and also show on the new time frame for this symbol.
@Ensign: Go to the 30-min chart using the Times panel (or right click when cursor
on a chart and select times) and the studies will transfer.
@Ensign: IF the time frame was changed with the Lock Studies button being Unlocked,
then the studies would not have made the transfer.
@Ensign: The 30-min chart might be dressed differently and would load its private
list of studies.
@Ensign: The LINES LOCKED button is the same principle for locking lines in
a time frame change.
@Ensign: Perhaps we have some parallel lines or trend on the 60 minute chart.
Lock the Lines button and change to the 30 minute chart and the locked lines
will be redrawn on the 30 min chart.
@Ensign: The lines drawn on a 1 min chart may have a harder time being drawn
on a higher time frame chart.
@Ensign: The 2 construction points for the 1 min chart might happen to be in
the same hour bar on the 60 min chart.
Merv: could you restate the rollover symbols feature
@Ensign: There is a new menu item File | Rollover Symbols

@Ensign: Have a workspace open, and click the menu.
@Ensign: Ensign will check for symbols that might be rolling over on the SetUp
| Manager List, charts, custom quote pages, snap quotes, and Time and Sales
windows.
Merv: so when you click file rollover symbols what happens I just get a window
to flash is that it?
@Ensign: You will be prompted with the current symbol and the proposed rollover
symbol and you can either answer Yes or No to the prompt.
@Ensign: Resave your workspace after you have rolled the symbols to the next
month.
@Ensign: Merv, the window that flashed was the SetUp | Manager and we did not
find anything to change there.
Merv: maybe it is because I am using ES #F must it be a specific month?
@Ensign: Apparently there were no charts, quote pages, or time and sales window
currently open with symbols that needed to rollover, so we are done.
@Ensign: right #F does not need to rollover
PlangCha: Kimball I have noticed on charts some people have posted that the
background color of the studies window is different from the chart how do you
do this ?
@Ensign: plangcha, they probably have an alert object that is using the ZON
selection or BGD selection
@Ensign: ZON and BGD are selections on the Marker drop down list
@Ensign: and when the alert triggers it is doing a background or zone coloring
change for the panel.

@Ensign: For the next upgrade, we have added a 4-minute by 4-minute color bar
selection.
@Ensign: This is similar to the minute by minute selection but does a color
change every 4 minutes instead
@Ensign: Here is an example of the 4x4 minute color bar study applied to a 36
tick chart.

@Ensign: some periods show 2 - 3 bars, and others show 8 bars in the color group
@Buffy: 4 doesn't go even into emini day does it?
@Ensign: this would be a helpful selection to use on constant tick charts so
you can have some feel for the passage of time
@Ensign: 4 minutes is one degree of earth rotation.
@Ensign: if the market is slow you might have 1 or 2 bars in the 4 min period,
and more in a 4 min period when the market is more active.
@Buffy: I see what you mean
@Buffy: oh that reminds me
@Buffy: color bars has to be the same way on volume and bars?
@Buffy: can't be different things?
@Ensign: correct, there is a singular color bar selection
@Ensign: and it can be applied to the bars or to the volume bars or to both.
@Buffy: thought so making sure
@Ensign: but there cannot be 2 color bar schemes simultaneously applied.
@Ensign: Now, the work around is to use the color BAND tool
@Buffy: listening
@Ensign: There you can apply more than one color band from the study drop down
list
@Ensign: and the coloring location can be applied on top or bottom or on the
bars
@Ensign: with different tokens etc
@Ensign: thus you could get different color bar effects simultaneously using
color bands
@Ensign: the color bands support all of the color bar choices.
@Ensign: let me apply the 4x4 as a color bar to the last chart as an example.
@Buffy: great

@Ensign: In this example the color bar selection was changed to Key Reversal
pairs
@Ensign: and the Color Band is showing on the top row the same 4-min by 4-min
color bar information
@Buffy: thanks

@Ensign: Here we used the ZON selection for the 4-min by 4-min color bar idea
@Ensign: I admit the colors are not pleasing but it was a quickie just to show
the idea
rg40: will the 4x4 be user adjustable to say 60 min segments? if so that might
require a name change then ,huh?
lear55: how do you change the open time, on day session only? my bars start
prior to 9:30
@Ensign: what symbol lear55?
lear55: AB #F
@Ensign: go to the SetUp | Market Hours table and add AB as a symbol with market
hours if it is not in the table
@Ensign: the times for the table are to be Central Zone times.

@Ensign: This shows you the entry I have for AB
@Ensign: So the AB basically plots for 23 and a half hours a day.
