16:34 @Ensign_HA: Welcome to Ensign's training class this Wednesday afternoon.
16:34 @Ensign_HA: I will begin with a brief overview of program changes in the Beta version for the past week, and then field your questions and answers.
Price Histogram - MP
16:34 @Ensign_HA: Some additional features have been added to the Price Histogram and are available in the 11-01 Beta version. This chart shows the Volume Rainbow feature which was released a week ago. There are 2 new improvements, and one of them is to optionally show the Date with the Price of the POC line in the right side margin.
16:34 @Ensign_HA: To show just the price use the $ marker on the POC property row.
16:34 @Ensign_HA: To show both the Date and the Price, use the Delta $ marker selection.
16:34 @Ensign_HA: The study property form which created the above visual will be shown next.
16:35 @Ensign_HA: You may have to change a check box configuration as you upgrade to the 11-01 version because the latest has a new option of Show All POCs added to the list.
16:36 @Ensign_HA: Note the Delta $ Marker selection on the POC row
16:36 @Ensign_HA: The Show ALL POCs check box is the 2nd improvement to the Price Histogram.
16:36 @Ensign_HA: When this option is checked, then all POCs for the entire file can be extended to show. When the option is uchecked., then only the POCs for the visible days on the screen are shown on the chart. Let me check the Show All POCs option and repost the graph, so you can see the abundance of added POCs from earlier dates.
16:38 @Ensign_HA: This shows a cluster of POC lines in the 1192 area, and again in the 1218 area. This might be added information about equilibrium prices that apply to the ES market. The 1218 area POC dates are in the later part of September.

16:40 Rice: If I enable the rainbow, the whole graph flickers, fwiw...
16:41 @Ensign_HA: That flicker is the paint presentation of all the colors. It is as brief as I can possibly make it be. I do not have a better idea on how to do all of that graphics any faster than currently implemented.
16:42 Randy1: I can't get the dotted line extentions to show
16:43 @Ensign_HA: The Virgin - OPC - will change the extended lines that are no longer Virgin status to draw dotted lines instead of solid lines.
16:44 @Ensign_HA: In this example,. the Extend POCs option is unchecked, so the POC lines do not extend to the right edge. However, the Show all POCs option is still checked, so these older POCs lines make just the short line dash on the left side of the chart. You still get the knowledge of where they cluster without them extending through your chart. So there are various visual effects you can get by trying different combinations of the option boxes being checked or unchecked.

IB Disconnect Issue

16:49 @Ensign_HA: Beta Upgrades changes 3 things: Ensign.exe program, any Help documentation, and the Market Hours table All other files for studies, workspaces, templates, chart files, etc, remain the same.

16:55 christophe: Howard, could the installation (or the lack thereof) of API 8.61 plays a role in the Connect issue ?
16:55 @Ensign_HA: possibly, however I do not have API 8.61 from IB - I have TWS installed and Java
16:56 christophe: FYI, it has just been relaeased. also fwiw, I never had any disconnect issue and I am running API 8.61 (even when it was beta)
16:56 @Ensign_HA: The TWS I and others like Randy have installed is 851.9 veraion and Jave 1.5.0.4, yet we have different behavior over keeping the socket connection between Ensign and TWS
16:57 @Ensign_HA: Thx christophe, I have not had any disconnect issue either with the versions given above. It affects some, but not all, and that is part of the mystery that gives me grayer hair
16:57 christophe: most welcome :) FYI - I'm using 853.7 and 1.5.0.4. I run TWS first and I haven't had a disconnect in 2+ weeks.

Time and Sales Filter
17:11 Kongfuzi: Is there a simple way to have a T&S window only show trades of a certain size or larger?

17:12 @Ensign_HA: yes Kongfuzi, right on the T&S form is a volume threshold edit box - when the box is blank all ticks post - solution is to enter the minimum volume size in the edit box
17:13 @Ensign_HA: The Time & Sales prices can filtered by Volume. Enter a Volume size in the right-side entry box. Example, enter 5000 to filter all Time & Sales prices with Volume less than 5000. This allows you to view only the larger ticks that occur.

Shared DYO section - True/False etc
17:13 amg3: is there a way to display a DYO Message for only a True value when Line logic is selected on a dyo? I want to reuse the same Section for various conditions

17:15 @Ensign_HA: Some of the Line Logic entries are for selection from multiple lines - you might have to group two of your uses to be adjacent lines for the labels to be displayed

17:17 Elroch: It's amazing what you can do on the back of a postcard (i.e. in a DYO)!
17:17 @Ensign_HA: Line Logic. The Line Logic selection identifies which DYO Line controls the Section background color. When the Line Logic is True, the section background will use the True color. When the Line Logic is False, the background will be colored the False color. The message text will show in the Font color. Line A through Line J can be a Boolean result that will control the Section color and the message is from the Message Text edit box. Selections 'A & B Labels' through 'I & J Labels' will use the Boolean logic of the two lines as a pair. Which ever line of the pair was most recently True is the line whose label will be displayed in the Section as the message text. The Section background color will be the Line's Show color. 'A Label True' through 'J Label True' will show the label from these lines only when the Line evaluates to a true. Wh
17:18 @Ensign_HA: So, amg, the selections like A&B Labels, or A or B or Blank type of selection will permit you to show two different labels in the section, as one or the other, depending on which line is True

17:20 @Ensign_HA: Welcome, thanks for trying, the DYO is pretty flexible and some of its features are not obvious. Just have to try and study some of my examples. There are over 100 DYO examples now in the Knowledgebase. So this database of e-mail replies and examples is a valuable resource to search

17:26 @Ensign_HA: Yesterday there was a refresh problem for daily futures for the DTN Market Access source. This affect IB users refreshing currency charts. This problem was reported to DTN, the fixed their problem yesterday, and rebuilt their daily futures database last night. The daily refresh returned to be correct and normal today, thankfully
