Speedometer

3:52 @Ensign_H: I have been doing some improvement on the alerts and its ability to draw a curve or plot any marker at the panel A or panel B values..... the cleanup is so markers like the histogram redraw themselves tick by tick incase the bar height is shorter

13:52 @Ensign_H: the 12-31 beta upgrade will have the improvements, which make the inverse Delta Time speedometer plot cleaner now. I have added yet another variation of the delta time with an entry of 100-Delta Time *# which I like even better than yesterdays #/delta time

13:54 @Ensign_H: and also the alert objects can set the sub window scale automatically which removes its dependence on another study setting the subwindow scale in advance.

13:54 shawn: histo updates evry tick? exc.

13:54 @Ensign_H: yes shawn. let me show example.

13:56 @Ensign_H: faster is taller green histogram bar and with today's clean up of the tick by tick update, the last green bar will grow shorter so last bar starts full height, and as it takes longer to complete the bar shrinks

Max Bars

14:00 bill: Hi Howard, I was wondering, is there a way to reset the Max bars back to zero on a chart so I can choose when the chart refreshes?

14:01 @Ensign_H: bill, illogical for max bars to be zero for a chart - ask the question another way - what is it you want to do bill

14:02 bill: say I have max bars set to 4000, , , , they are now at 3900, , , , I want to get it to start over instead of wait until it hits 4000 so I can get it to start over at end of market instead of during the trading day so it will not mess up my globals during the trading day

14:03 @Ensign_H: bill, hold down the Shift key while you click on the Reset button. This will jump you to the beginning of the chart, position the cursor one day into the chart and right mouse click and use pop-up menu Delete | Delete Left. So you manually are deleting the oldest day of data in your data set, for example bars 1 through 400. Now your bar count will drop by 400 bars and be a count of 3500 instead of the current 3900. Click the Reset button (or the = key) to jump the chart back to the right side (current bars).

14:05 bill: Perfect Thx Howard

Line tool

14:06 virt: Howard, with the extend a line ahead...does the extend ahead depend on the time period selected as well as actual length on the draw line? i.e. will the line extend further if I use say hourly vs one minute?

14:24 @Ensign_H: virt, the line length for extend depends on the Extend Multiplier and the distance between the 2 construction points. The length of the line is a unit, and the extend is ## * Unit

14:25 virt: thanks...

14:26 virt: unit = length of line not number of periods, correct

14:26 @Ensign_H: correct, length between the 2 line anchor points

Support and Resistance Tool

14:11 fr75: gm Howard, what GV category is used to show a series of GV's? as in 10-20

14:25 @Ensign_H: fr75, what are you trying to do with a GV series?

14:27 fr75: simply show the s/r lines, but using the category, Global Value and Value as the GV, Number is 8 and the GV to start is "10", I don't see more than the 1st GV

14:28 @Ensign_H: fr75, where are you trying to show the value? in the Section position?

14:28 fr75: nope, a value and B panel is always true

14:28 @Ensign_H: an alert can show one value or plot one line at a value. If you have 8 GVs you are interested in, you will need to use 8 alerts to show the 8 GVs

14:29 fr75: then how do I plot all the s/r lines off the s/r higher tf?

14:29 @Ensign_H: now if the values are prices and you want a horizontal line at that price, you could use one DPL tool with the 12-30 version because the one DPL tool could show up to 11 Global Variables simultaneously as horizontal lines.

14:30 @Ensign_H: for the S/R from higher tf, use the DPL tool to show those values

14:31 fr75: sorry, I'm dense..don't understand

14:31 @Ensign_H: you put on the draw tool Daily Price Lines

14:31 @Ensign_H: in the drop down box is a new entry of Global Variable - select it and in the Level field you enter the GV number

14:32 @Ensign_H: in my example post, the top line for Today High calculates and stored in GV [2] but does not plot.

14:33 @Ensign_H: the line for the Global Variable is selecting [2] and plotting it as a thick pink line.

14:33 @Ensign_H: in your case the GV would be set by the S/R on another chart.

14:33 fr75: understand, ty

14:33 fr75: is it possible to use the dpl tool /s/r tool on a previous day...it always defaults to current session/day?

14:34 @Ensign_H: fr75, on the s/r tool, uncheck the Find HLC box and then you can manually pick the 3 points for the calculation and they can come from any day then.

14:35 @Ensign_H: now you know a bit more about how to use the tool to get what you want and the GV will increase the flexibility for you

14:36 virt: Howard, with the s/r tool...is it possible to start the levels after rth (4:15 eastern) rather than the opening of rth (8:30 the next day)?

14:36 @Ensign_H: virt, it does that already

14:37 virt: I use find h/l/c and it seems that the s/r don't change until the next morning after the first candle closes

14:37 @Ensign_H: I think the Day Session box needs to be unchecked and possibly the state of the Day Session option is the issue you need to change

Playback Bar Timer

14:31 zol2: Hi Howard, Should the bar timer work in for playback minute charts?

14:40 @Ensign_H: zol, the answer is no, the bar timer is not getting the right information it needs in playback when you use any of the speed increase selections such as 2x of 10x - so it will not work in playback

14:41 zol2: works ok with vol or tick charts.

14:43 @Ensign_H: vol and tick charts are not based on time

14:43 zol2: yes, understand.. you can count them as they happen vs the timestamps
